Sammed Shikarji Temple
Sammed Shikarji Temple is located in Giridih District of Jharkhand.
Sri Sammed Shikarji is the famous salvation place of 20 Teerthankaras and infinite numbers Ascetic Saints/Munies had also attained salvation by practicing the deep penance and powerful meditation.
According to the ancient texts, lakhs of munies attained salvation from the particular places of Teerthankara’s salvation.
The new constructed temple at Shikarji has some of its parts relating to the 18 th Century. The idol present inside the foot of the temple is very old and the inscription present at the foot of this idol is of 1687 A.D.
Referring to the Jainism notes, 20 out of the 24 Tirthankaras had attained Nirvana (Moksh) here and so this place came to be known as Sammed Shikar which means the “peak of concentration”.
Sammed Shikarji Temple is situated in Parasnath Hills which are the highest mountain of about 4,478 feet. The name of the hill is taken from “Parsvanatha” which stands as the name of 23 rd Tirthankara who had also attained Nirvana here.
One can easily reach Sammed Shikarji Temple by the road or railways. All the express train have the stop at Parasnath Railway Station and a great facility of the Government and Private vehicles.
